Clinical Hypnotherapy
(Also knowN as Hypnotic Suggestion)

The treatment that most people probably expect to receive when considering an appointment with a hypnotherapist.

Positively phrased suggestions are offered to your unconscious mind in order to bring about the desired change. As long as these suggestions are accepted by your unconscious, you will respond automatically and enjoy the benefits.

For a little extra confidence boosting, or to enhance existing skills such as sports performance or sales technique, hypnotic suggestion can be invaluable. For studying and exam situations, too, suggestion can improve relaxation, concentration and memory recall. (In the past we have even helped students have a better chance of passing their exams.) Suggestion can also be very effective in treating habits such as nail-biting, smoking or minor weight control.

However, suggestion therapy does have its limitations especially when applied to problems of a more emotional, psychological or personal nature.

In such cases the symptoms will either tend to persist or return after a certain time. This is because suggestion therapy generally aims at treating the symptom and not the cause. It is rather like having an overflowing sink and trying to deal with the problem by mopping the floor as quickly as possible, when really you should pull the plug out and turn the taps off!

Suggestion therapy does not usually take into account any underlying issues that may be the real root cause of the problem, which may well be there for a very good reason.

In such cases it is nearly always better to find out why the problem is there, which requires a somewhat different approach, known as Hypno-Analysis.

Analytical Hypnotherapy
(Also knowN as Hypno-Analysis with Psychotherapy)

This is possibly one of the most effective forms of personal therapy available today and is also the treatment that we would nearly always recommend for personal, emotional or psychological problems.

Hypno-analysis works upon the principle of cause and effect. This means that if you have a problem or symptom, it is there as the result of an underlying cause. If this underlying cause is resolved, the symptom becomes redundant and disappears. As long as the underlying cause is completely resolved there is no reason for the problem to return.

Hypno-analysis can be applied to almost any problem, but the following are some of the more common areas in which we work:

Anger
Anxiety
Asthma
Depressive thoughts
Eating disorders (such as anorexia, bulimia & bingeing)
Fears (including phobias and panic attacks)
Guilt
Habits (that do not respond to suggestion therapy)
Lack of confidence or low self-esteem
Obsessions and compulsions
Sexual problems
Skin disorders (such as eczema, nerve rash, psoriasis)
Stress management
Weight control

At first glance it can appear as if Hypnotherapy is claiming to be some form of “cure-all”.

However, when you understand how the mind works you come to realise that hypnotherapy is actually quite scientific in its approach, and the successful results achieved are very predictable.

Whatever the problem, if you can discover and understand the real cause, it is then quite simple to bring about the desired change.
