WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY ?
Hypnotherapy is a personal therapy that utilises what we call Conscious Hypnosis.
Normally you tend only to be aware of your conscious mind - this is the logical side to your personality, the side that organises your daily business, helps you to make decisions and is used for rational thinking.
This is the part of your mind you tend to use when trying to solve everyday problems. The other part of your mind is often referred to as the sub-conscious and is responsible for your feelings and emotions, your beliefs and perceptions, your memories and automatic functions of the body. Ideally, it keeps you happy, healthy and alive.
The problem arises when your conscious and subconscious are in conflict with each other. This can then leave you feeling rather powerless, as if you are struggling against something inside of yourself over which you apparently have no control. This is especially true of personal, emotional or psychological problems, and also includes habits such as smoking or nail-biting.
Using Conscious Hypnosis you can more easily become aware of this subconscious part of your mind. Hypnotherapy is therefore a simple yet extremely effective way of helping you to communicate directly with the specific part of you that has been causing the problem.
During the course of your treatment you will easily learn self hypnosis, as well as many simple techniques that can then be employed by you to help yourself in the future.
Hypnotherapy is probably the kindest, quickest and most gentle form of personal therapy available. It is a totally natural, totally safe method of treatment and, unlike many drug-based therapies, has no unpleasant side-effects and is suitable for just about anybody.
